6abc Philadelphia
I began my career at Philadelphia's legendary WPVI-TV—Disney/ABC's powerhouse local station and a true city institution. Anyone from Philly knows that 6abc is part of the city's DNA in a way I've rarely seen elsewhere.
I worked my way up from summer marketing intern, to the mailroom, to production assistant, to producer of Action News at 4:30 a.m., before ultimately finding my place—and my passion—as a Creative Marketing Producer.
Working the night shift gave me hours to experiment and create. Some of those late-night projects made it to air. A few even won awards. More importantly, it's where I fell in love with brand storytelling. Writing, producing, and editing commercials for one of the country's most revered local stations was a crash course in storytelling on tight deadlines, inside a tough, high-pressure, not-always-so-friendly newsroom.
It's also where I learned one of the most valuable lessons in marketing: trust is everything. The product of a news station isn't the broadcast—it's the trust and connection built with the audience over decades. WPVI's longtime tagline, "Trust Is Earned," always felt like more than a slogan—perhaps because it's true in almost every context. Like building a brand, trust takes time, consistency, and integrity. It can take a lifetime to build and a second to lose.
Here are a few of my favorite projects from that time—the ones I was so proud of that I couldn't resist stopping to watch them every time they aired.
